Formerly part of the Soviet Bloc until 1989, this country has made the most successful of transitions into western ways and became a member of the EU in 2004. Steady investment into new technology and a view to producing good quality wines is starting to open the world market for them. Here can now be found examples of most styles of wine. The vineyards are situated in the Carpathian Basin.

From G. F. Mayer there is Sediener Gerwürztraminer Aurum and Blaufrankisch Vasari.

From G. Naegle comes Nagrede Aubruch, a subtle combination of Blaufrankisch and Cabernet Sauvignon.
